Volunteer Opportunities
- HELP WANTED. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.
The folks who are controlling the sound board and the video cameras on Sunday morning need help. Video production requires two persons, one to control sound and one to operate the video cameras. If you can operate a key board or a mouse you have all the skills necessary. At this time, the team is all male. Let’s make it coed. The Sunday services are beamed live to East Nassau and will soon be available to the South Beaches area. These live productions offer a way for the Church to expand our presence in North East Florida. Stop by the sound booth after Church for more information and volunteer your time.
- OUR HIV TESTING SITE NEEDS MORE VOLUNTEERS.
We use 2 types of volunteers: A clerk and a counselor.
The clerk is required to take AIDS 104 class. It is provided by the Duval County Health Department. This requirement is waived if the volunteer has previous experience and/or an equivalent course. AIDS 104 is 4 hour basic course about HIV/AIDS. The clerk may begin volunteering until the course is available.
The counselor is required to take AIDS 500/501 course. It is a three day, 8 hour/day course. Then the counselor must complete a checklist with an experienced counselor doing counseling under supervision.
All classes are provided free by the Duval County Health Department.
Our test site hours are:
Every Wednesday, 1:30 - 6:30 pm and the 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2-5 pm

Want to smile and meet others? Be a Sunday greeter -- it's a great way to get to know others and have them experience you! Sign up on the list at the back of the Sanctuary on the greeter's table. Also, we hope every member will participate in welcoming others to our church community. Everyone, please meet and greet our visitors in the sanctuary and later at coffee hour, to share our friendship and encourage visitors to find a place in our community!

- VOLUNTEERS NEEDED AT OUR UUCJ-TREE HILL COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Green Sanctuary Committee in collaboration with Tree Hill Nature Center set up an organic community garden at Tree Hill, just a few minutes from UUCJ. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help plan and/or manage the garden -- or interested in having a garden plot.
